How Maker’s Leather Supply Australia Began

In March 2019, what began as a dream road trip, a journey along Route 66 on a Harley Davidson became an unforgettable 11,500 km adventure across the United States and the starting point of Maker’s Leather Supply Australia.

Along the way, we stopped in Sheridan, Wyoming for the Rocky Mountain Leather Trade Show which gave us the chance to take a few classes, wander through the World Leather Debut competition, and really soak up the incredible leathercrafting Talent. 

At the Trade Show we met Aaron from Maker’s Leather Supply  and somewhere between the conversations and inspiration, the idea of bringing their range to Australia was born

The journey continued to Fort Worth, Texas, for more learning from one of the most respected leatherworkers in the USA at Elktracks Studio. This included a private tour of the Tandy Leather Museum and the Al & Ann Stohlman Collection, a truly inspiring experience.

Before heading home to Australia, a final visit was made to Maker’s Leather Supply in  Texas. That visit confirmed the vision: to bring Maker’s Leather Supply to Australia.

What started as a road trip became a passion, and that passion is now Maker’s Leather Supply Australia.
